Nature

During our nature classes, the campers take a step into our camp’s woods. They learn about our local flora and fauna, go for creek walks, and enjoy being outside! They also make nature crafts! Nature is offered daily in both the morning and afternoon to campers of all ages.

Backpacking

Camp Ton-A-Wandah offers beginning and advanced backpacking classes. Each class learns how to build a fire, pitch a tent, and other basic camping skills. For beginning backpacking, geared for our Hillsiders and Lakesiders, campers and staff camp one night out on our beautiful trail, Deep Woods. Our advanced backpacking class gears up for a 3-day hike in Pisgah National Forest. If you would like to go on one of these trips, it is a good idea to bring a sleeping bag!
