Grown Up Girls Getaway 2026
Thursday, October 1 - Sunday, October 4, 2026

Treat yourself to an unforgettable women's weekend at camp
experiencing all Ton-A-Wandah has to offer.
Each summer, as mothers drop off their daughters, they always say how much they WISH they could go to camp. Like the experience they’ve sought for their children, these mothers yearn for an escape to simplicity and quiet, restoration, and for some late-night laughter and time with women friends. And why not? All the things summer camps offer our children are of enduring value to us grown-up girls as well. Imagine a glorious autumn day in the Blue Ridge Mountains - blue sky, sun glinting off the lake, waterfall singing. The day is all yours: join in one of the many activities, schedule a spa treatment, eat delicous and nourishing food, sit by lake and read, but expect a lot of laughter and sisterhood.
Who is a GUGG Girl?
GUGG is open for any women over 21: former TAW campers and staff, camper moms, long time GUGG girls, and women who've never been to camp before. Come on your own or with your mom, adult daughter, sister, aunt, book club, college besties, or neighbors. The weekend is perfect for reconnecting, rejuvination, and relaxing together. No matter who you bunk with, you will be sure to make new friends!

What Will We do?
The weekend starts with a very low key Thursday night – just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company with a wine-tasting on the dock, then dinner and activites in the dining hall. Friday and Saturday begin with a buffet breakfast. That’s right – breakfast is ready and waiting, as all your meals for the weekend will be. No cooking and no clean-up. After breakfast it’s time to pick and choose among the wide array of activities we’ve planned, all with grown-up girls in mind. You have all morning and afternoon to choose from dozens of activities, or simply hang out by the lake and read your book! From archery to zumba with massages in the middle, there will be any number of ways for you to try something new on for size. If a structure-free day is what your soul is clamoring for, have at it. Skipping class and breaking other “real world” rules have no consequence here!
ACTIVITIES range from typical camp TAW FAVORITES such as archery, riflery, woodburning, canoeing, and zumba, to ADVENTURE on climbing wall, ropes course, hikes, paddeboards, water-front toys, to SELF-CARE spa treatments, massages, sound bath, and healthful living classes, to ARTS AND CRAFTS galore including glass fusion, flower arrangments, quitling, and holiday decor to SPECIALS such as fly-fishing, paddleboard yoga, pickleball, self-defense, different dance styles, and more! Expert instructors will be on hand to help you learn and master new skills.
Friday night will be a camp-style evening program, usually followed by dancing. Saturday night is the annual GUGG Talent Show, so get your acts ready! By Sunday, you may have discovered what is missing from your usual routine, and prioritize yourself and your time with friends a little bit more. We’ll say our goodbyes after a closing circle and slideshow on Sunday morning – all the while inking our calendars for the same time, next year.

Where do we Stay?
Camp Ton-A-Wandah is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on it's own private lake. The dining hall, where you will have 3 meals a day, sits atop the dam so you sit eye-level with the water. A fire in the stone fireplace greets you and your coffee in the fall morning. You will stay in a cabin with friends. It's rustic with wooden bunkbeds, screened windows, and bathroom in each. The shower house is short walk. Activities are indoors and out. Sitting by the fire at night looking at the stars is expected.
Don’t worry about what to wear – your most comfortable blue jeans will do! You might need a thick sweatshirt to knock off the morning chill as you make your way to the dining hall for breakfast or sit by the fire at night. Sturdy walking shoes and maybe a silly outfit or two are a must!
